Phases of Choosing the Right Course to Study in Iceland

Iceland offers a plethora of study programmes. With plenty of options available, selecting that one programme is important. It is imperative to take out time and choose the best study programme that complements your academic ability.

The mentioned below phases will help you choose the right course to study:

Phase 1: Know your Career Goals

Determine what you want to do and why? Know your career goals and aims. 

Phase 2: Search and Research Phase

After you know what you want to do, do an in-depth research for the same. The more you research, the more likely you will make the right and appropriate decision. Visit the official website of the higher education institutions in Iceland and know about them and their offerings. Make a list of the institutions offering programme that you wish to pursue. Take a tour of the campus. Talk to the faculty and students out there and know more about the institution. 

Phase 3: Decide and Apply

After researching, decide the institution you wish to enroll at. Then apply to the institution. Fill out the application form and submit it along with the required documents to the institution.

Admission Requirements for different study levels

Undergraduate degree: Students must have finished a matriculation exam or its equivalent and hold an upper secondary education certificate-Studentsprof. 

Graduate Studies
Students who wish to go for a Master’s degree in Iceland must hold a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.  
Students who wish to go for doctorate studies in Iceland must hold a master’s degree or Candidatus degree. 

If accepted, a letter of acceptance will be issued.

Phase 4: Apply for Scholarships 

The Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, Iceland offers many scholarship programmes to students. Also, the higher education institutions in Iceland offer scholarships to the local and international students to study in Iceland. Phase 5: Apply for Student Residence Permit
